Latigo Snake Whip

Here’s a 6-foot snake whip made with an alum-tanned latigo, 2 plaited bellies, an 8-strand overlay, 30-inch latigo fall, and a Padauk heel. Whip #93.

    1. Yessir, I had put it on there right after I made it as I wanted to hear the whip and was too lazy to make a cracker for it. It sounded so good I just left it. I’ve several of these baling twine crackers from you and Glen Denholm and some that came with the Bernie whip I own.

We’re doing great. I don’t know if you heard about the Texas Panhandle fires at the end of February but It destroyed about 100 homes in the subdivision of Fritch where I live. Mine was not one of them. Lost a bit a fence is all, so we are feeling quite lucky. Neighbors across the street and across the alley behind us and others on our block were completely destroyed. Not sure how ours was skipped.

I take the whips you made for me out and play with them quite regularly. The diamond plait is still quite stiff, but it has loosened a bit. Still think those whips are some of the most well made whips I own. Thank you, again.

How’s things going in your part of the world?
