Anthropologist James Mooney, describes the creature:
Those who know say the Uktena is a great snake, as large around as a tree trunk, and scales glowing like sparks of fire. It has rings or spots of color along its whole length, and can not be wounded except by shooting in the seventh spot from the head, because under this spot are its heart and its life.
Whip #80 is an 8-foot, 20-plait, snake whip in black red and silver paracord. It has a weighted, twisted, tapered core, 3 bellies, a 3-strand English eye fall hitch, a 24-inch, weighted, double-loop fall, and a B55 waxed nylon cracker. The heel knot foundation is made of lead covered by kangaroo hide and the heel knot is a 7×6 3-pass Turk’s head. The whip is waxed.
